This school welcomes 199 girls and boys from preschool to 6th grade. It is a French public school, which aims for excellence in languages, mathematics, technology, the sciences, the arts, and physical education. It is also an educational center that is privileged to include the French language. The school takes pride in the fact that they belong to the French part of Ontario.
The Hélène Gravel School opened their doors in September 2001. The school was named after a woman of vison and principle, Madame Hélène Gravel. Madame Gravel served as a teacher at the MacDonald-Cartier school for more than 23 years.
Madame Gravel died on the 4th of November, 2000.
